Vintage Embroidery Monday & Stitchery Link Party #5

Sometimes we decide to embroider a pattern simply because we love it and then it sits in a box or wherever we keep our finished embroidery pieces because we don’t know what to do with them.

Yesterday while shopping for the black background fabric for my Spring Bloom project, Ye Olde Fabric Shoppe was having a Mother’s Day Special.  For every $25 worth of fabric you purchased, you could pick out one fat quarter from any of the baskets in the shop.   Do you know, it took me longer to pick out that one free fat quarter than it did for our middle daughter to make all of her purchases combined!

Finally I chose this fabric.

Pretty Floral Fat Quarter

First because it’s pretty.  But second because it could be paired with so many of the vintage floral patterns that I’ve shared in the past.  It would be perfect used to frame this Baby Face Rose pattern.

And depending on the colors you used to stitch it with; the pattern that I’m sharing today.

Workbasket Pattern for Butterfly Flower WreathThe framed embroidery could then be turned into a cushion or a small table topper… maybe even a lovely tote bag.

This vintage Workbasket pattern can be downloaded as a pdf here.

The Stitchery Link Party is growing and word is getting out there thanks to the lovely ladies who have been linking up each week.   Many have written posts specifically for Mondays.   Almost everyone has linked back to the party with either a text link in their post or by adding the party button to their post or blog sidebar.   I can’t express how much I appreciate each and every one of you.

And we can’t forget to thank our readers who have been visiting and commenting!

I’ve got some giveaways in the planning stages for those who link up each week and also for those who stop by and take the time to comment.

Although past link ups are closed to new entries, the Stitchery Link Parties themselves and all the projects that were linked up that week are available to check out any time you’d like.  So if you didn’t get a chance to visit during a particular week, you can do so anytime you like.

I know that I’m certainly looking forward to being inspired again this week.

The rules are simple:

1. The project can be anything you’ve made as long as it includes embroidery stitches in some form. Such projects might be but are not limited to redwork, blackwork, goldwork, bluework, (etc), counted cross-stitch, crazy quilting, crewel, silk ribbon, pulled thread, hardanger and sashiko.

These projects do not have to be vintage or vintage inspired. All styles are welcome as long as it’s hand embroidered.

2. Link directly to your blog post, not to your blog home page.

3. If you happen to sell your embroidery or embroidery patterns, feel free to link up to a blog post you’ve written about a project you’re selling, but No direct links to shops or websites selling things.

4. This will be a curated link party. In other words, if a link does not conform to the three simple rules above, it will be removed.

The next three are more requests than rules.   They are by no means a requirement to take part in the party:

5. Please link back to the Stitchery Link Party with a text link somewhere in your post. Or if you’d prefer you can use the cool button that our son designed for me.

Simply copy and paste the code you’ll find under the button in my left side bar. You can add it to your post or to the sidebar of your blog.

6. As well, please share the love and visit one or two (or more) of the other links and take time to leave a comment.

7. I would, of course, love it if you decide to follow me but it’s not necessary in order to take part in the link party. (If you do decide to follow me, you can subscribe to e-mail updates in the box on the upper right hand side bar. Buttons to follow me on other social media are in the upper left hand side bar.)

Oh and don’t worry if you’ve never linked up to a link party before, I’ve written a quick tutorial called How to Link Up to a Link Party to help you not only link up to this party but to any link party you might like to participate in.

Lovely to see the link party growing – alas I missed it again this week. I’m SO far behind in my blog reading and completely forgot that it was Monday (well, it WAS Monday four days ago!!). It IS Monday again in a couple of days, so maybe there’s hope….

Love the pretty fabric you chose and it’s funny because the piece I am started this morning would go perfectly with it. Thanks for visiting my blog and letting me know about the Stitchery party. I hope I have linked correctly and I also posted in the sidebar on my blog. I will try to get back weekly to see what everyone has been doing.

If you’re only going to buy one thing, it takes longer to be sure of it, doesn’t it!
