Vintage Embroidery Monday & Stitchery Link Party #12

Last week, on June 21st, the 2015 Row by Row Experience kicked off with hundreds of quilt shops across the US and Canada taking part.  The event runs from June 21st to September 8th. Each participating shop offers a free pattern for their row that they’ve designed to go with this year’s H2O theme.

Most of the shops are also offering kits for purchase to make their row.   (I know of at least one local shop that has already sold out of their kits and have a waiting list.)

The aim is to collect 8 rows from 8 different shops, sew them into a completed quilt then be the first to return with the quilt to a participating shop to win 25 fat quarters.  Deadline for finished quilts is October 31st though there are shops who’ve already had their winning quilt.  Me thinks some quilters spent some nights quilting instead of sleeping.  🙂

I’ve got too much on the go right now to travel to 8 different shops to collect patterns but I have stopped in and picked up two of the patterns when I was over in those areas of town.

This week, I thought I’d share a vintage Workbasket pattern that fits perfectly with the H20 theme.

I’ve seen several rows (each state and province has their own facebook page) where this cute embroidery would be a sweet addition to the row or perhaps as a separate block added to the quilt.

This pattern can be downloaded as a pdf here.

Welcome to Stitchery Link Party #12!

For those visiting for the first time, you’ll want to check out not only this week’s party but previous ones as well.  Parties #1 through #11 can be accessed by clicking on Stitchery Link Party in the categories section of the left hand tool bar.

Without fail each week, I learn something new or find projects to inspire me… quite often both.

For those of you who like to plan ahead, I try to make sure to have this post scheduled to go live each Monday at 7 am EDT (11 am UTC.)

The rules for linking up are simple:

1. The project can be anything you’ve made as long as it includes embroidery stitches in some form. Such projects might be but are not limited to redwork, blackwork, goldwork, bluework, (etc), counted cross-stitch, crazy quilting, crewel, silk ribbon, pulled thread, hardanger and sashiko.

These projects do not have to be vintage or vintage inspired. All styles are welcome as long as it’s hand embroidered.

2. Link directly to your blog post, not to your blog home page.

3. If you happen to sell your embroidery or embroidery patterns, feel free to link up to a blog post you’ve written about a project you’re selling, but No direct links to shops or websites selling things.

4. This will be a curated link party. In other words, if a link does not conform to the three simple rules above, it will be removed.

The next three are more requests than rules.   They are by no means a requirement to take part in the party:

5. Please link back to the Stitchery Link Party with a text link somewhere in your post. Or if you’d prefer you can use the cool button that our son designed for me.

Simply copy and paste the code you’ll find under the button in my left side bar. You can add it to your post or to the sidebar of your blog.

6. As well, please share the love and visit one or two (or more) of the other links and take time to leave a comment.

7. I would, of course, love it if you decide to follow me but it’s not necessary in order to take part in the link party. (If you do decide to follow me, you can subscribe to e-mail updates in the box on the upper right hand side bar. You will then be sent an activation e-mail.  Once you click on the link in that e-mail, you will begin receiving updates each time I post.  Buttons to follow me on other social media are in the upper left hand side bar.)

Oh and don’t worry if you’ve never linked up to a link party before, I’ve written a quick tutorial called How to Link Up to a Link Party to help you not only link up to this party but to any link party you might like to participate in.

I love this fish! It’s adorable. Thanks for sharing it. I haven’t stopped in at a shop yet, but there are plenty right here in East TN. Maybe I’ll go tomorrow to the one in Oak Ridge. I want the Atomic license plate they made!

Not sure how to add the link to the page where I do sell stitch guides for pieces I stitch. I also write custom guides for people! Thanks for the info on your site! Will check in often!

Thank you for this (and all) patterns you share. I’d like to find more patterns like this one to make quilt blocks for a fish lover. Any ideas where I can find more?

Thanks again for sharing on your great blog.
