Helping you create a home by hand.

On This Day We Remember

This day goes by different names around the world; Armistice Day in the UK, Veterans’ Day in the US and here in Canada as Remembrance Day.   And on this day, we take time to pause for a moment from the busyness of our daily lives to remember the sacrifices of those who have gone before… those who paid the ultimate price for the freedoms we now enjoy.

We also pay tribute to all those who have served or are currently serving their countries; the men and women of our armed forces who stand ready to defend those hard fought freedoms.

As a retired army wife, I know all too well the on going sacrifices they make.  This is my soldier on his last day of service in August 2000.

This picture was taken on the day of his retirement after 25 years of service.

May he always know how proud I am of him… not only of the many months he spent overseas on peacemaking missions, but also of his daily service for the 25 years he was in the Canadian Armed Forces.

The man he was then and the man he is today was shaped by those years.  And I am honored that he chose me to be the one to always keep the home fires burning.

I love your last line! Thank him for his service, please, and I thank you, too, for serving with him.

Thank you to your husband for his service and to you also for sharing him with the entire country. He, and all the other service men and women, deserve our highest honour and respect. God bless him!

Thank you for sharing this tribute to your husband. I so admire and respect all the military servicemen and women, and their families. I have a nephew and friends that are still serving and I’m also very proud of them.
