In Our Garden BOM Blog Hop – Blocks 1 & 2

In Our Garden BOM Blog Hop – Blocks 1 & 2

This week, I finally carved out the time to make February’s blocks for the In Our Garden BOM Blog Hop.

In Our Garden Button

Amy over at Sew Incredibly Crazy did a wonderful job designing Blocks 1 & 2.

My month is June and let me tell you, Amy set the bar pretty high… not only for the detailed instructions and ease of construction for the pieced block but also on the cuteness factor for the applique block.

The white on white fabric and blue floral that I used for Flip Flop (aka Block #1) were in my fabric dresser just waiting for the right project.

I love this blue and white combination so much that I’m really hoping I have enough of those two fabrics to make each of the other pieced blocks that will be shared over the coming months of the hop.

Now get ready for some cuteness overload!

I had such fun picking out the fabrics to make Block #2.

Amy called this one Toady Time. But when I texted our middle daughter with the photo, she texted back, “It’s a frog!!! It’s a frog!!! It’s a frog!!!”

You can perhaps tell that DD2 loves all things frog. Check out the kitchen set I made for her with Frogs Doing Yoga.

When I was cutting out the grass for block 2, I tried my best to make sure that none of the ladybugs got cut in half because we all know it’s a sin to kill a ladybug. You did know that, didn’t you?

I wasn’t completely successful in that regard. To make it up, I carefully cut out and fused ladybugs over the ones I’d “murdered.”

I still need to secure the appliqued pieces down with some hand-stitched blanket stitches. And I plan to add some embroidery embellishment as well. The fly definitely needs a trail of stitches to indicate that he’s flying away from froggie. But that will have to wait until I finish my current embroidery project.

I used Heat’n Bond Lite Iron-on Adhesive to fuse each piece in place so that should hold them until I’m ready to work on this block again.

Blocks 1 & 2 will be free until the end of February. Head over to Sew Incredibly Crazy for all the details on where to download them so that you can join us… In Our Garden.

They are so beautiful. I am beginning to loose faith in believing I will be able to make a real quilt of any kind

I just love this BOM and am thrilled to see the fantastic blocks you created. The temptation to join in on the fun is HUGE, but my To Do List has me plenty busy. I look forward to following your progress!

I am not a sane quilter but I am so in like with this frog – despite the demise of a poor ladybug!!
