Catching Up – In Our Garden Blocks 5 & 6

Catching Up – In Our Garden Blocks 5 & 6

This is the Wednesday post that turned into the Friday post!

I got busy with a fun new project and the week slipped away from me. I’ll be sharing the tutorial and pattern for it just as soon as I can get to the fabric store to buy some much needed solids to finish it off.

But to give you a hint… it will be the perfect gift to make for all those Pokemon Go players that are running here, there and everywhere capturing Pokemon!

For today though, I wanted to show you my versions of April’s Blocks 5 and 6 of the In Our Garden BOM.

What’s that you say… it’s July and the In Our Garden BOM is up to Blocks 11 & 12 already. How can I be just finishing Blocks 5 and 6 now?

Well… with the move at the beginning of April there just wasn’t time and then May slipped into June and June slipped into July. I’m sure you know how that goes!

So without further ado… Block 5:

Love Flower Block 5 of the In Our Garden BOM

A blue and white quilt has been on my quilty bucket list for quite a while now so each month I’m making the pieced block of the In Our Garden BOM in a variety of blue fabrics paired with a white on white background.

Doris over at The Quilting Queen Online was April’s designer. Her “Love Flower” pieced block may look complicated but it came together surprisingly quickly.

Once again though, I had the most fun making the applique block.

Doris didn’t name this one but I’ve decided to call my scrap drawer version… Flower Shower!

Don’t the flowers look delighted to be receiving a much needed watering!

All the details about where you can get the patterns for Blocks 5 and 6 can be found over at The Quilting Queen Online.

Oh and before I forget… if you’ve made July’s block for the In Our Garden BOM, Amy has this month’s link party up over on her blog, Sew Incredibly Crazy.

Make sure to post about your blocks either on your blog, Instagram, Flickr or the Facebook Group and then link up for a chance to win beautiful fabric from Connecting Threads.

Just one more quick announcement…

(ad) It’s Christmas in July already! And that means it’s time to start thinking about all the incredible handmade gifts you’re going to give come December. So to make things a little easier, the folks over at Craftsy are giving you up to 60% off kits and supplies. Get everything you need to make something that’s for the holidays and from the heart.
