Catching Up – In Our Garden

Catching Up – In Our Garden

Happy Mother’s Day

To all the mothers out there!

And Happy Sunday!

It’s a beautiful day here today so this mother is going to be visiting some garden centers and then adding flowers to the gardens at our new house. We have a lovely big yard here and lots of small gardens scattered throughout for me to play in.

It’s been such fun to see what’s coming up in them and then planning to fill in where needed. I was especially delighted to find this rhubarb patch!

Rhubarb in the House Garden

In just a month, it has grown so much. I can’t wait for the stalks to be big enough to start harvesting!

Rhubarb Crisp is a personal favorite. And if the patch does well over the next few months… by the end of the summer, I’m planning on making and canning Rhubarb Relish.

Then once I’ve played in the yard for a bit, I’m going to go up to my sewing room/office and work on a different kind of garden.

It’s time for me to get caught up making the In Our Garden BOM blocks.

I’ve started working on April’s applique block. I’m hoping to have it done in a couple more days so I can share, but for now here’s a sneak peak of one of the flowers:

Happy Little Applique Flower

Isn’t it adorable!! That little smiling flower makes me smile too!

And once I get April’s blocks finished, it will be time to work on May’s.

Carla over at Creatin’ in the Sticks has designed two beautiful blocks for this month. Her applique block, appropriately named Bird Bath, features a bird bath and two plumb little birds that have come for a visit.

The pieced block, called Flower Box, has a large center block perfect for a floral focus fabric.

Hop on over to Carla’s blog to find out how to get May’s In Our Garden blocks.

Oh and while you’re there, don’t forget to enter for your chance to win a $25 Gift Certificate from Fat Quarter Shop!

Just a few more weeks and it will be my turn to share the blocks I’ve designed for June. I can’t wait to share them with you!
