Helping you create a home by hand.

Love and Laughter Mini

I had hoped to finish my two Paper Pinwheel quilts this week but I’ve spent the past two days unpicking a block of fmqing on the lap quilt that I was less than pleased with.  I had no idea it would take me this long to unpick all those stitches and I’m still not finished.  That’s today’s goal… finish unpicking and get that pinwheel lap quilt quilted.

I did want to have a finish to share this week though, so yesterday when I needed to give my hand and the seam ripper a rest, I went through the embroideries that I included in my 2015 Finish Along Q1 goals to see which one would be quick and fun to check off the list.  As Dave’s and my anniversary was Wednesday and Valentine’s Day is tomorrow, I decided that this little redwork embroidery fit this week of celebrating the love in our lives perfectly.

Love and Laughter Mini

I used some more of the red Essential Dots by Moda (color # 8654) to frame it and then found that red mini dot fabric for the binding stashed away in my fabric dresser.

The embroidery pattern was a free Christmas design from Red Brolly a couple of years ago but I can’t find the link to it so perhaps it’s no longer available.

It finished at just 8 1/2″ X 6 1/2″.

For the photo I propped it against a small metal storage tin but before I put the binding on, I attached triangle hangers in each top corner on the back.   Dave cut a piece of “doweling” from a plastic coat hanger and the mini is now hanging in the guest bedroom.

In other blog news… I had something really fun happen yesterday.  Sulky of America retweeted my tweet about the Love Struck Purse I made last week.  And not only that, they shared it on their facebook page.  How cool is that!

Wishing you all a heart-centered weekend with much Aloha and may your home be filled with love and laughter!

Oooh, I love the stitchery you did. I love your 91, too. I need that cover plate visible on the left of your machine – I have one, but it isn’t quite right and keeps sliding off. Mine is a hand crank. Great photograph.

Such a pretty sentiment for Valentines Day. I knew you would have an old Singer. So jealous. My Nana had a treadle Singer from the 1930s that I can remember her using during my childhood. Not sure what happened to it. Have a fun weekend.

Unpicking fmq is a real pain in the neck isn’t it, hope you get back to quilting soon. The mini dots are the perfect match for your embroidery.
