Pencil & Pillow Cases

Pencil & Pillow Cases

Last night was the London Writers Society’s monthly meeting and I felt so good walking into that room full of strangers carrying my new writing tote.  Isn’t it funny how something as simple as a fun new tote can give a person that little boost of confidence.

There’s even been a new addition.

My new pencil case to match my writing tote

The pencil case is made out of the same fabric that I used for the sides of the tote.  It’s called Study Hall from the Black and White Collection by Cotton + Steel.

And isn’t that zipper pull just darling!

Tiny Pencil Crayons

I’ve been saving those tiny pencils ever since I received them as part of the Pay It Forward gift from Katherine over at Sew Me Something Good back in 2009.  They were too tiny and cute to actually color with but I knew some day I’d find a use for them.

Now I just need to figure out how to recover my old portfolio with the rest of the Typewriter fabric and I’ll have a complete set.

Today, I also cut out the fabric for another pencil case to hold those 60 pencil crayons I bought during the back-to-school sales.

Another Pencil case cut out

This one will be made using the same fabric I used to line my writing tote with:  Noteworthy by Sweetwater for Moda Fabrics.  I’m going to try my hand at making one of those see-through cases using the plastic case a set of pillowcases came in.

And speaking of pillowcases… I finished the three I had in progress last Friday.

Three more pillowcases for Case for Smiles

These will be donated along with the others to Ryan’s Case for Smiles.

So I did a bit of selfish sewing this week and a bit of sewing for others.  A feel good combination all around.

I would be so pleased if you chose to share by clicking on one of the buttons below!

Your tote and pencil case turned out wonderful! (Your post reminds me I need to finally set aside some writing time…) Thank you for sharing your pillow cases. It is the first I have heard of Ryan’s Case for Smiles. What a sweet donation for a wonderful cause!

I’ll bet your tote was the topic of much admiration at the meeting – I would imagine a lot of the members were wanting one too.

Yes, it doesn’t have to be swanky to give the confidence – you just have to love it! Well done, it looks great!
