Sew We Stitch Ornament Swap

Sew We Stitch Ornament Swap

Back at the beginning of September, Madame Samm over at Sew We Stitch announced an Ornament Exchange that I signed up to take part in. When partners were assigned, Sammie from Bears at Home and I were paired up.

Sammie and I exchanged a few e-mails back and forth and I stopped by her blog to read a bit more about her.

When it came time to make her ornament, I searched through my stash to find fabric that I thought Sammie would like so that I could make a Prairie Point Star Ornament for her.

Her favorite color is red and this fabric just seemed like the one to pick for her.

I paired it with some white and gold fabric to come up with this Prairie Point Star:

Then when I was out shopping one day I found this flying Santa that was just the right color to go with it.

Flying Santa Ornament for Sammie

A few more of these sweet Santas in different colors may have flown into my shopping basket to match handmade gifts for other recipients as well. 😉

I had Sammie’s ornaments ready well ahead of time and then the trip across the border that I’d planned to mail them got delayed for a few days and I missed the designated mailing date.

To make up for that, I made her this little Christmas Pip using my Thimble Pip Tutorial.

Christmas Pip I made for Sammie
Isn’t it amazing that these photos were taken within seconds of each other of the very same ornament and yet the tree in the background looks completely different!

I used one fabric for each side of the pip.  At the time, I happened to be working on another project where I was fussy cutting and thought to myself that it would be perfect to fussy cut to make the thimble pip/Christmas pip for Sammie.

Sammie received her ornaments on Wednesday so I’m able to share these photos with you without spoiling her surprise.

Oh… you want to see the ornaments that Sammie sent to me?!

The gifts that Sammie sent to me

I had mentioned in one of our emails that I collect angel ornaments and buy a new one each year to hang on our tree.  I now have two new ones for this year!!

They are currently sitting on the sideboard waiting for us to put up our Christmas tree next weekend.

The beautiful handmade card is displayed on a shelf in my office so that I can enjoy it as that’s where I spend most of my time.

Thank you so much Sammie for the sweet angels!  And thank you to Mdm Samm for organizing the swap.

I would be so pleased if you chose to share by clicking on one of the buttons below!

So cute! I love the star ornament too.
And I collect angels too … at last count (from putting away last year) I had about 240. I have a separate tree for just angels.
