Spring Bloom Thimble Pip Giveaway

This Giveaway in now Closed.

Today is turning into a super busy day, so I will announce the winners tomorrow (June 11th.)  The winners will also be notified by e-mail.

The very first time I saw the fabric line Spring Bloom designed by Amanda Caronia for Windham Fabrics, there was one particular fabric that caught my eye.   The blooms reminded me of peacock feathers and I knew that it would be perfect to fussy cut to make a thimble pip.

The fabric with the arrow pointing to it is perfect for fussy cutting to make thimble pips.

I decided then and there that I was going wait until it was released and even if I had to order it on-line and pay international shipping I was going to have some of it.   Well as regular readers know, the fabric came to me in the most fun way possible.

I won a fat quarter bundle with one each of the entire Spring Bloom line. You can read all about that here.

I was so excited to be able to play with all that beautiful fabric and I have a big project in the works using them but first I had to make that thimble pip!  Well two actually because as you can see from the photo above there is also a pink color way of the same design.

Here’s the blue one:

Blue Spring Bloom Thimble Pip And here is the pink one:

Pink Spring Bloom Thimble Pip

Each thimble pip is lined with the matching blender fabric from the Spring Bloom line.

After making the thimble pips I embroidered around each with 2 strands of embroidery floss using a herringbone stitch.  And then to give them a bit of bling, I added teardrop shaped crystals to the “eyes” of the peacock feathers.

Now if you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you know that I already have a small collection of thimble pips.  You can find my tutorial for how to make them here.

Since I have so many, I’ve decided to give these two away.

The rules are simple:

1.  Leave a comment on this blog post telling which Thimble Pip you’d like to win before midnight EDT June 9th.  Two winners will be drawn by random number and I will announce the names on June 10th.   (If both have chosen the same colored thimble pip, the first name drawn will receive their choice and the second name drawn will receive the other pip.)

2.  For a second optional entry, leave a comment telling me how you follow Super Mom – No Cape!

If you aren’t currently a follower you can find the box to subscribe by e-mail in the upper right hand sidebar.  (You will receive a confirmation e-mail at the address you entered in order to activate your subscription.  Only active subscriptions will be entered into the drawing.)  You can also follow me on twitter or instagram.  You’ll find those buttons in the upper left-hand sidebar.

3.  The giveaway is open to anyone, anywhere.

Good luck everyone!

Since I’ve already got a thimble pip, I gave the 11 year old the choice – she likes the blue one. I don’t ‘follow’, I just check in periodically and see what you’re up to. The stitchery link up is doing well.

I follow you via email feed and blog-lovin’! I love the blue/green pip. It goes well with my sewing retreat items. They are all colored with aqua-blue and lime-green showcased with hints of black. It makes them easily identifiable when gathering with my quilter friends. Love the “bling” you frosted them with.
It also reminds me of the peacocks from my youth that my friends’ family kept. What beautiful birds they were and they also had ring neck pheasants they raised.
