Therapies for the Soul

I’ve been indulging in a little therapy for the soul lately. First of all some sewing therapy.

Joann’s sent me a couple of e-mails last week… one contained a 50% off coupon and the other contained a coupon for 15% off your entire purchase. So I went shopping for fabric and bought 5.5 yards of a beautiful floral Hawaiian style print and some fusible fleece.

This week, I made this gorgeous tote bag with some of it.

I just love how it turned out!

Next, out of this same fabric, I plan to make a tote bag the right size and shape for my yoga mat. (<-affiliate link)

I started Beginner Yoga classes about a month ago and I can’t tell you how much I am enjoying it. I’ve tried various exercise classes in the past and always felt out of my element, even after months of going.

Yoga is completely different. We do a lot of breath work and lot of stretching and are slowly learning the various Yoga poses. I’m already noticing improvements in my core strength and my ability to balance. Not to mention discovering muscles I didn’t know I had.

Our instructor takes the time to explain each posture and pose to us and what area of the body we are working.

He also takes us through short guided meditations and energy work at various points throughout the class.

It came at just the right time for me and I am finding Yoga to be amazing therapy not only for the body but for the soul as well.

What therapies for the soul have you been practicing this week?

Wishing you all a heart-centered weekend!

Gorgeous tote – love the Hawaiian fabric! I tried yoga for a while but hurt my shoulder – I think I pulled the towel behind my back too hard, lol. I wouldn’t do very well with meditating though – I’d be tapping my fingers (and feet, probably) wanting to continue with the other stuff, lol. Patient I am NOT
