Fabric Cone with Embroidered Heart

Fabric Cone with Embroidered Heart

After a two month hiatus, Embroidery Monday and the Stitchery Link Party have returned. But with a twist!

Instead of posting every week on Monday, they’ll be posted on the first Monday of every month. Over the course of last year, fewer people were linking up each week and one of the reasons I heard over and over was that readers simply hadn’t had time to get any embroidery done that week.

By making the switch to once a month, I’m hoping that will give everyone more time to fit in some stitching so they can join in the fun linking up to the Stitchery Link Party.

In addition… you may have noticed that it’s no longer called Vintage Embroidery Monday. Last fall, I was down to the last of the vintage Workbasket patterns that I’ve been sharing with you each week.

I won an auction on Ebay for dozens more but when they arrived and I started doing research to determine which were in the public domain and which were still under copyright, the sites I used to rely on for that research were no longer available. I do still have a few more Workbasket patterns that I know are in the public domain so for those of you who love those vintage patterns, I’ll be sharing some soon.

I’ll still have a free embroidery pattern for you to download and stitch each month but I’ll be mixing things up with some new designs that I’ve created and some really cool ones that Dave is working on.

With Valentine’s just a little over a week away, you may be looking for small gifts to make to give to family, friends and teachers. Maybe you’ve even been meaning to make some of the fabric cones using my Fabric Cone Tutorial.

If so, then today’s free embroidery pattern will make them extra special.

This is my own vintage inspired design.

On the front of the cone is this sweet heart made up of several lazy daisy flowers with french knot centers.

On the side are curlicue vines stitched in red backstitch.

Those curlicue vines are mirrored on the other side as well.

Just imagine the surprise on a loved one’s face if they came home to find this hanging on their door!

White Fabric Treat Cone with red embroidered floral heart hanging on a black door knob on a white door I love how the red stitching pops on that white fabric.

These embroidered fabric treat cones would also be perfect to make as party favors for a spring or summer bridal shower.

As you can see from this close up picture, there’d be room inside the heart to stitch the bride’s and groom’s initials.

For this pattern, the design has been drawn on the pattern for the fabric cone.

Note: The dots inside circles along the curved edge indicate where to place the handles and are not part of the embroidery pattern.

Once you’ve finished embroidering, follow the directions in my Fabric Cone Tutorial to complete making the cone. You can also purchase the Fabric Cone Tutorial as a printable PDF in my shop for $5.00.

Now it’s time to party!

STITCHERY LINK PARTY #136

For those who are newly subscribed or are visiting for the first time, on the first Monday of every month (previously every Monday,) I host a link party in which I invite others to share their hand embroidery projects.

If you’ve never linked up to a link party before and would like to join in, I’ve written a quick tutorial on How to Link Up to a Link Party. It provides step-by-step instructions for linking to this party (or any other link party you might like to participate in.)

The rules for the Stitchery Link Party are simple:

  1. The project can be anything as long as it includes hand embroidery stitches in some form. Such projects might be but are not limited to redwork, blackwork, goldwork, bluework, (etc), counted cross-stitch, crazy quilting, crewel, silk ribbon, pulled thread, hardanger and sashiko.
  2. Link directly to your blog post, not to your blog home page. You’re also welcome to link to a Facebook or Instagram post, if it is set to public.
  3. If you happen to sell your embroidery or embroidery patterns, feel free to link up to a blog post you’ve written about a project you’re selling, but No direct links to shops or websites selling things.
  4. This will be a curated link party. In other words, if a link does not conform to the three simple rules above, it will be removed.

The next three are more requests than rules. They are by no means a requirement to take part in the party:

  1. Please link back to the Stitchery Link Party with a text link somewhere in your post or on a page where you list your parties.
  2. As well, please share the love and visit one or two (or more) of the other links and take time to leave a comment.
  3. It would be wonderful if you decided to follow me but it’s not necessary in order to take part in the link party.

Such a cute stitchery to add to an already cute project! I will join in again next month… since I don’t think I have any posts about what I have been stitching! xx

Glad to read that you are continuing with the Link Party on a monthly basis, I don’t link up that often but enjoy seeing the lovely work that is linked up.

Thanks for a lovely design. I will make them next year for my sisters I visiting teach from church. There’s not enough time to make 7 of them this year. LOL

I am so glad that you are again hosting this link-up. I will be sure to add it to my blog. This little cone is so pretty. I love that it is “vintage inspired”.

It’s great to have this party and your designs back, though I do appreciate you changing things up this year, heaven knows I’ve been forced to make changes myself!
