Round Elements Reversible Tissue Box Covers

Round Elements Reversible Tissue Box Covers

When I first accepted Quilting Mod’s challenge, I really had no idea what I would make with the Round Elements by Art Gallery Fabrics. It wasn’t until the fabric arrived in the mail and I actually got a chance to see and touch it in person that a plan began to form.

My goal was to use as many of the fabrics as possible while at the same time showing how versatile this line of fabrics is. The plan was to make several different projects which only added to the challenge as I only had a fat eighth of each fabric.

On Sunday, I showed you the Spooky Eyeballs Trick or Treat Bag that I made with two of the darker shades; Serene Tide and Shadow Pebbles from the Round Elements line.

For the first of today’s projects, I chose Crystalline Blue.

I used my Reversible Tissue Box Cover Tutorial to make a cover for a short rectangular tissue box. It took almost the entire fat 1/8th for one side.

I can’t show you the reverse side because while I’ve staged it here as a get well gift, it is actually a Christmas gift and the recipient might guess it’s for them if they see the other side. 🙂

Edited to add the photo of the reverse side. This was one of the handmade gifts I made for my swap partner Pauline in the 2016 Santa Sack Swap.

And here it is staged if I was giving as a get well gift. 🙂

After all… a pretty box of tissues and a box of chocolates can really brighten a sick person’s day!

Isn’t it pretty! I love that butterfly fabric. I have just enough of it left to make one for myself.

Since a fat 1/8th was just barely enough for a short tissue box, my next project, required some piecing to get enough fabric.

I thought it might be a good idea to have a baby gift on hand and what could be more practical than a box of tissues. But while tissues are both a practical and useful gift, a plain box might not be so well received. It would have to be covered in pretty fabric!

Of course, not knowing whether I’ll need a gift for a girl or a boy, my Reversible Tissue Box Cover will work for either.

For one side of this larger tissue box I chose Seafoam Swirls and edged it with Vintage Teal.

Then for the reverse side, I picked the Apricot Yogurt for the main part and trimmed it with Grapefruit Smoothie.

That white strip along the bottom was added because I cut the strips the wrong size. But we’re just going to pretend that I’d planned it that way all along!

As I note, on Sunday, Quilting Mod’s Round Elements link party is open right through to Oct 7th. So if you happen to have some of this gorgeous Art Gallery fabric in your stash, there’s still time for you to make something to link up for the chance to be in the drawing for some fun prizes.

That’s cool. I like how you did the colors like that.
