UR Priceless Coin Purse Blog Hop and Giveaways

The Giveaway is Now Closed

I will announce the winners later today.

Today is Day #2 of the UR Priceless Coin Purse Blog Hop hosted by Katherine from Sew Me Something Good.  And it’s my day (along with 15 other blogs) to share the coin purse made from the pattern provided by Madam Sam of Sew We Quilt.

You may have noticed from past posts here, here and here, that I really like sewing these little sew-in frame coin purses.

As soon as I found out that I was one of the first 100 to sign up and therefore in the blog hop, I went searching on-line for inspiration and I certainly found lots of ideas.    In fact, I found so many that I ended up creating a board on Pinterest just for Coin Purses.

With all that to inspire me plus the two samples shared by Madam Sam, it was time to make some decisions and start sewing.  This is what I came up with:

The fabric is from the Mama Said Sew line and you’ll see why I chose it once we get to the giveaways.

I know that most of the other ladies taking part in the blog hop are making more than one purse to share on their day of the hop.   I only had one of those rectangular purse frames and I used that for the one picture above.

But I had quite a few of the half circle frames.  Here are the ones I made so that I could have more than one purse to share with all of you today.

Each side of the purse features a sun that I fussy cut from some decorator weight fabric.
Isn’t that mushroom fabric adorable!

This next purse is extra special so gets three photos.   At Christmas time last year, a friend gave me three machine embroidered panels. I’ve been saving those three panels until I could find something really neat to use them in. This is the front…

This is the back:

And this is the bottom:

I’ll cherish it always as a reminder to keep alive my dream of returning to live in Maui, home of my heart.

And here’s a picture of them all displayed together:

Now on to the giveaways. A person can only use so many of these little coin purses and so I’ve decided to give away all of the purses except the Aloha purse because as I explained that one has special meaning to me.

And I’m going to have a little fun with these giveaways and try something new.

The first giveaway is right here on my blog.

One thing I’ve noticed while using the other coin purses I’ve made is that once they get even half full of coins, they are really heavy! So I’ve turned two of the coin purses into sewing kits that can be popped into a purse or suitcase for making minor repairs when on the go.

I’ll be drawing two names. The first one to be drawn will receive the kit with the Mama Said Sew fabric and the second name drawn will receive the Sun Sewing Kit.

The rules for entering are simple:

1.  For one entry, make a comment on this post.  That way everyone gets at least one chance.   Everyone, everywhere is welcome to enter.

2.  For a second entry, subscribe to receive e-mails each time I update my blog and then post a second comment saying that you did.   If you’re already a subscriber, let me know in the comments and you’ll be entered for a second time too.

3.  For a third entry, like Super Mom – No Cape on Facebook and then post a third comment that you did.  (Link in my left side bar.)

The second giveaway is being held over on my Super Mom – No Cape Facebook page.

I’ll be making two draws there too.  One will be for the Mushroom Coin Purse.   I had fabric leftover from making that and one last half circle frame, so I made up a kit so that another lucky winner can make one for themselves.

And there are two ways to enter to win :

1.  Make a comment on my post over there telling me which you’d like to win; the Mushroom Purse or the Mushroom Purse kit.

2.  Share the giveaway on your wall and then make a second comment on that post that you did.

Edited to make this fair for everyone:  The giveaways close at midnight EST on November 13th and I will draw and announce the winners on November 14th.

Good luck everyone!

Please note:  In previous posts, I mentioned that I was working on the pattern for a tutorial to share today as well.   I had always had trouble getting the original pattern I received from Quilt-A-Bag to fit into the frames without a lot of easing.  (notice the pin monster photo in the first coin purse I linked to.)  As well, I really wanted to make a coin purse using that sun fabric but the oval shape of that pattern just didn’t want to work right.  So I changed the shape to make it more circular and made sure that the top part fit in the frame without having to do any easing or gathering.

Then Saturday, Dave got called back to work which is a really good thing, but that meant that Sunday, the day I had planned to get all the photos chosen from the dozens I had taken, resized and the tutorial written ended up being a travel day for us.  I’ll try to get the pattern and tutorial for the half-circle coin purses pictured above posted sometime later this week.

Update:  The Coin Purse Tutorial and Free Pattern can be found here.

All of your coin purses are lovely (the Sun purse is gorgeous)! I especially like the first one because the fabric says “sew”…and those are my initials!

Gorgeous! The coin purse you made for the hop is so sweet and I enjoyed seeing the ones made using the other frames you found. Perfect idea for using those special embroidered panels from Sandra, too. Very clever!

Thanks so much for being a part of the hop.

    UR Priceless!

I forgot all about those embroideries – the embroidery machine hasn’t worked since early spring so I haven’t even thought about it! You did a fine job using them, though – I’m glad the little purse makes you think of a dream! Love the Mama Said Sew fabric … and I have some of that gnome house fabric coming – 3 different prints in pink – I ordered it with a gift certificate I won from a holiday sew along!
